Toby, you’ve done it again! Your insights into the cutting edge world of internet marketing are fantastic. A must read for everyone looking build a successful business. Your advice isn’t just for small businesses either, medium and large businesses can use these ideas too!
After reading your advice on social networking (chapter 9) I did my own research and now agree, the potential that social networking offers is incredible. You have opened up a new channel for me.

At last, someone who explains what we small business owners need to do when it comes to internet marketing. Weary of the books that hype online marketing as the be-all-and-end-all, I turned to Toby Marshall’s book Small Business Internet Marketing: Ideas & Solutions for Advertising Small Businesses Online: The Sales Lead Generation Bible (Volume 2) with small hope that the blurb on the cover would actually be true. And it is. Toby sets out online marketing clearly and simply for even the most technologically challenged. He explains all the options, why they work and how to use them. If you follow even half the advice in Toby’s book, you’ll be swamped with online sales or new business leads. Thank you Toby. Now it all makes sense.

As the Managing Director of a boutique investment fund I’ll admit that I was skeptical about the applicability of the techniques Toby describes in the book. How could an institutional sales model be applicable to Google Adwords and the like? How wrong I was… sure, nobody is going to invest over ten million dollars because we came first on the Google search page but 1) It won’t hurt and 2) the key is the I, the sales guy, come across as a credible expert… And Toby’s book has opened my eyes as to how the web and sites such as linkedin can help do this. As the owner of a boutique management consultancy, I bought this book to help me improve my marketing, particularly online. It is an extremely practical guide and not only helps me plan what is appropriate to improve the generation of leads (e.g. by using social media such as LinkedIn), but it also helps me manage the suppliers I use to maintain my website and support me with other marketing activities. I thought I knew a lot about marketing and generating leads, but reading Marshall’s book I’ve found countless bright ideas I can use that I would never have thought of. It’s a long while since I’ve read a more practical guide. It’s easy to read and concepts are explained thoroughly so you can implement immediately. At over 300 pages it’s excellent value. Could not recommend more highly.
